Description

Production Details for these blanks:

Each blank was first sculpted in polymer clay. They are now ready for you to paint and seal them to your specifications! After that, only assembly is needed.

Supplies Needed to paint (some apply for sealing as well):

  • Blanks
  • Plugs for both ends of each tub
  • Turners Warehouse sells casting plugs and I recommend them, link at the very end of this
    • Dowels and paint brushes can be used, just make sure the tubes are snug on them and don’t wiggle
  • Acrylic paints, alcohol inks, mica pigments mixed with varnish to detail the colors
  • Other options are out there and a bit numerous to list. Research those choices on The Blue Bottle Tree, link at the very end of this
    • Do not use any sort of aerosol. The cured clay will turn sticky and ruin the blank.
  • Cloth (cotton recommended)
  • Alcohol, acetone or water
  • Gloves (optional. Powder free latex or Nitrile are best)
  • Paint water cup to clean brushes
  • Paint brushes
  • Work surface covering is also suggested.

Supplies Needed to seal:

  • Brush-able Superglue
  • You may need a stand of sorts to hold blanks while the glue cures. I recommend placing tape on the end of whatever you use to hold the tube and securing it to the edge of a table
    *******OR*******
  • UV Resin
  • UV Light
  •  Firm paint brush
  • 90% Alcohol (to clean the brush and reuse)
  • Paper towel to wipe off excess resin
  • You may need a stand of sorts to hold blanks while curing the resin
*****Either way you choose to seal*****
Gloves, eye protection and following any product package safety recommendations is advised

One last thing – have fun!!!
